Today was my first day doing MP45. While is too soon to talk good or bad about the program, I wanted to do a quick review today, and then start doing weekly summaries about the progress in general, including meals and workouts.
How was my first impression in regards to the workout. While I had already written down on my notepad each set I needed to do, so when the time came I only had to write the weight and reps information along with any notes for future reference, I didn’t realize how intense the workout was going to be. Personally, I truly believe Read more →
MP45? What is that thing? Well, in case you haven’t been paying attention to the internet ads, Facebook fitness groups, and Google results for best fitness programs, MP45 seems to be the newest and “hottest” workout system where some people are claiming these amazing results in just 45 days. Yes, you read that right, only 45 days. Of course, me being me, Read more →
Although I’ve been riding bicycle for most of my life, and have done some crazy stuff like riding one downhill with no breaks or going at crazy speed during a rainy day (I still have visible scars from the fall), I have never in my life gone mountain biking on an off road trail before. Being someone who loves nature and outdoors activities, plus the fact I own a GoPro camera, got me into buying a Specialized Hardrock MTB and give it a try after seeing we have some really nice trails in South Florida.
One would say that after trying so many fitness plans I should already look like a fitness model. Yet, here I am, fat… I mean far from looking like one, and asking myself why.
While the answer could be narrowed to two very simple facts, I would dare to say it goes beyond those two reasons, but for the purpose of this blog and to avoid getting into a ridiculously long post, I’ll stick with those two, which are diet and health. Read more →
What better than celebrating Valentine’s Day by running a Spartan Race? Luckily for me, I don’t really celebrate V-Day, but I do love obstacle races, which was a pretty damn good reason to stay away fro all the love posts online.
Left home at 4am to drive up to Tampa, with enough time to get ready for the race, including setting up my GoPro camera. Temperature was around 42º by the time my race was about to start, which is not a big deal, but when you’re about to run and most probably jump in cold water, it becomes one of those “oh crap, this is going to be fun…. not” moments.
I bet somewhere along those lines would be the first thing to pop up in people’s minds when reading 3000 burpees. I mean, who would even consider doing such a ridiculous amount of burpees and claim they’re sane anyway? Read more →
At a certain point, anyone who goes to workout at fitness centers and general public gyms has experienced a very common issue, which to be honest, annoys the hell out of me. Whether is leaving dumbbells all over the place other than the dumbbell rack, or leaving the leg press, bench press, smith machine or squat rack loaded with plates, I find it very disrespectful when people don’t re-rack the weights after they’re done using the equipment.
Since completing the Spartan Super Race last year, I already knew I wanted to register for the Sprint race; after all, if I had been able to finish an 8 mile race even with ITBS, why wouldn’t I go for the 4 mile one, right? For those unfamiliar with the race, what would be the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear “Spartan Race“? I would stay an outdoor race, probably a tough one considering Spartans used to be extremely tough and intense warriors. At least that would be my first thought.
It has been quite a few weeks since I finished Shortcut to Shred, and for one reason or another I wasn’t able to do a final review. Today, I’m finally able to sit down and share with you my final thoughts about the program based on my own perspective, experience and results.
As mentioned before, Shortcut to Shred seemed to be a promising solution to cut down or shred body fat. The concept, which is mainly based on reducing carbohydrates during a 3 phase setting, puts you on a caloric deficit, which one way or another would make anyone lose weight. Of course, the main goal is to lose body fat and little to no muscle mass, but this is where it gets tricky. Read more →
What is ITBS or ITBFS? It stands for Iliotibial Band Syndrome or also known as Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome.
ITBS is an overuse injury of tissues of the outer thigh and knee. The iliotibial band runs along the lateral or outside aspect of the thigh and is an important structure that stabilizes the outside of the knee as it flexes and extends. Inflammation of the IT band can occur as it crosses back and forth across the bony prominence of the femoral epicondyle as the knee flexes and extends causing pain on the outside part of the knee especially during running when the heel strikes the ground.
